Hindu Muslim Riots are nothing new in India. No matter how much India proclaims it constitution as secular, the social fabric is very much strained. This is due to the patronization of the Islamic community by the secular parties for over sixty years. The non Muslim community has grown bolder and bolder and the non Islamic communities have become frustrated and fearful of their growing clout.
There have been more than 500 riots in India in the last 3 years. The maximum number of riots have been in Uttar Pradesh and other parts of India like Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Orissa and lastly in West Bengal. All these riots have been noted by the ministry of home affairs but not disclosed to the press for internal security reasons.
West Bengal has been in the spotlight for the 4 consecutive years. Dhulagarh riots in 2016, Baduria riots in 2017, Ram navami riots in 2018 and again Ram Navami riots in 2019 in the same place where it occurred for the first time, Assansol.
A peaceful procession of Hindu faithfuls were being led on the streets. The Muslims who have been given the audacity to claim the streets where they inhabit as their own passed lewd comments at the Hindus. The Hindus retorted, the Muslims threw stones at the Hindus. Later the police stepped in. As the police happened to the extension of the home ministry run by a pro Muslim politician, they were taken to be responsible for protecting the Muslims who stones.
In the battle between the police and the Hindus many police vehicles were damaged and burnt. Many other vehicles were damaged. The police has arrested those who burnt the vehicles but not the Muslims who passed the lewd comments, insulted the Hindus and provoked them. The BJP MP from Assansol was heckled by the local Muslims and many of the Hindu were beaten mecilessly, but Vishwa Hindu Parishad said there would be more processions in the days to come. The police commissioner LN Meena said that the probe is on for the cause of violence.
