Jaya Prada joins the BJP

Jaya Prada is a veteran film actress and a politician. She acted in various films and won many awards.

She grew interested in politics at the age of 32, when she joined the Telegu Desam Party. She was offered a seat but she did not accept it. She continued with the party activities as a member. Later she had differences with Chandrababu Naidu and joined Swamajbadi Party of Mulyam Singh and Azam Khan. She had differences with Azam Khan and was expelled from the SP. She complained that she had received theats from Azam Khan.

She with Amar Singh formed a new party Rastriya Lok Manch and fielded 360 candidates for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections. They lost the election and face as the party did not win a single seat. The party became defunt. She joined Rastriya Lok Dal of Ajit Singh and contested the Bijnor seat in 2014 and lost.

Today, 26th March 2019 she joined the Bhartiya Janata Party. Jaya Prada said that she was honored to serve the party under the able leadership of Narendra Modi She is expected to face her foe Azam Khan from Rampur parliamentary constituency.
